October 11, 2008
Ten educators from the Kyrgyz Republic of the former Soviet Union will get a first hand lesson on the American educational system when they visit the School District of University City on Tuesday, October 21.
The visit is being coordinated by the World Affairs Council of St. Louis through its Community Connections program.
The education system in Kyrgyzstan is currently undergoing a number of reforms. During their visit to University City, the group will speak with district administrators and staff about various programs and teaching methods; learn about hiring, training and promotion practices; observe classrooms; discuss parental and community involvement and learn about the role local, state and federal government has in the educational process.
The University City School District is just one of the group’s stops during their visit to the St. Louis area from October 18 to November 8. They will also visit other public and private educational providers.
